Fauna

Our farm is free of insecticides, herbicides and hunting activity. This fact, together with the management we carry out and the care we take to preserve and create corners with great interest for wildlife, makes it ideal for its observation.

The Natural Park is a place of great fauna interest. It is therefore home of those beings of the forest that give it life with their sounds, their traces and flight movements. Highlighting as the most showy the roe deer, wild boars, foxes, genets, martens, ferrets, badgers, otters and wildcats and even wild horses among many others. Being attentive we can find many signs of their presence wherever we go, their traces are countless and exciting.

Bird life is also extremely varied, allowing possible sightings of birds of prey such as: eagles, goshawks, tawny owls, peregrine falcons, crows, and vultures. There are also many forest birds like woodpeckers, wagtails, nuthatches, blue tits, robins, hoopoes, jays, grosbeaks and small marsh chickadees, as well as many other species of resident, seasonal or migratory birds. We have some feeders near the house so that all our guests can learn and enjoy their beauty and their song.

We can also find bats, reptiles, amphibians and a variety of invertebrates.  Butterflies and dragonflies that visit us are also of great beauty, providing magic walks around Mas Campassol. Being attentive we can find many signs of their presence wherever we go, their traces are countless and exciting.

Flora

Mas Campassol is surrounded by a spectacular mix of Atlantic flora with ferns, maples, hazelnut and linden trees and Mediterranean flora in which the holm oak and plants such as thyme stand out. This is possible thanks to the combination of the thermal features of the area and the volcanic soil. It gives life to a spectacular diversity of trees and plants; nature at its best. Within our farm, there are holm oaks, beeches, oaks, lime trees, maples, ash trees, chestnut trees…

Also fruit trees, fig trees, plum trees, loquat trees, walnut trees, apple trees, and cherry trees… This richness offers a great variety of food for the diverse wildlife that surrounds us in all seasons.

Thus, deciduous trees with beautiful reddish and yellowish tones in autumn are mixed with a majority of evergreen trees, green all year round. This diversity gives a pleasant sensation and creates landscapes to fall in love with at any time of the year.
When going for walks you may find a multitude of mushrooms, wild flowers, even wild orchids, aromatic and medicinal plants.
